Veronique Jonassen

A French-Norwegian artist based in Hong Kong, Veronique Jonassen was educated in France, the US and Hong Kong, where she was exposed to numerous cultures. Initially pursuing a career in Finance, Veronique discovered her talent for painting after surviving a life-threatening accident in 2010, where she underwent art therapy during recovery. Over time, Veronique decided to receive training in oil painting from a talented young Russian artist who is a member of the Union of Arts of Russia and the International Association of Art.  Combining realistic and impressionist oil painting and abstract expressionist acrylic and oil work, Veronique reflects her belief that painting is an incredible and colourful place where one's imagination can be boundless. Veronique's childhood multicultural experiences constitute a significant source of inspiration for her works of art. She also incorporates her fascination with the icy cold Northern landscapes and her love for dancing and colourful ethnic patterns.  Veronique's art creation process takes an organic approach. She sits in silence and listens to her canvas, letting it take control and transform her hand into a direct conduit between her soul and the surface, free from any blockage from a conscious thinking process. She also takes inspiration from a sudden vision of colour, pattern or feeling while running errands or in the middle of a conversation.   Veronique exhibited her work to the public in Hong Kong for the first time in April 2019 and has since participated in several group exhibitions in Finland, Monaco, Spain, and Luxembourg.
