Born in 1968 in Turkmenistan, Rahman Umarov took an interest in art from an early age. He was accepted by the Tashkent Fine Arts Academy, where he received personal tutelage from experienced Uzbekistan artists and academicians. In 1983, he enrolled in the Turkmenistan College of Fine Arts, graduating with honours.

Landscapes and thematic works occupy a special place in the artist’s work, glorifying the nature of Turkmenistan and the life of its people. Rahman usually dabbles in oil and acrylic paintings. Artfully harmonising with cold and warm tones, he highlighted the tenderness and beauty of the Turkmen girls in one of his paintings, Ray of Light.

Having earned the recognition of his peers, Rahman became a teacher of the fine arts himself.

Rahman participated in numerous art exhibitions in different cities in Russia, Uzbekistan, France and Turkey. “The World through the Eyes of Artists” in Germany was Rahman’s first exhibition on such a vast platform. He then did more presentations in Paris and became acquainted with artists from Iran, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine etc.

Today, his paintings can be found in the Turkmenistan State Fine Arts Museum, an honour reserved for the most recognised and accomplished artists. Umarov’s paintings are also found in various other museums, which include Amasya Museum in Turkey, Mardina History Museum in Turkey, and Turksoy Fine Arts Museum. He also has private collections in Russia, France, the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, and India.
