Konstantin Golovin was born in 1954 and passed away in 2020.

Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

1954 – born in the city of Zelenokumsk, Russia.

Golovin – winner of two architectural competitions for the best design for the Temple-Chapel of St. Nicholas and the Temple of St. Simeon in the city of Nikolaev. . 1977 – Graduated from the Herzen State Pedagogical Institute of Leningrad, Department of Graphic Arts. Studied in artists’ studios: Honored Artist of the USSR L.V. Kabachek, Honored Artist of the USSR M.I. Kaneev and B.N. Kuznetsov.

1986 – joined the Union of Artists of the USSR, participating in 26 Union-wide and Republican exhibits(USSR). Member of the board of the Nikolaev Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

2008 – Artist is included in the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine (EMU). Many of the artist’s works were purchased by the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture for the national museums.

2012 – By decree from the President of Ukraine for significant personal contribution to the development of national culture, long-term creative work and high professional artistry, Konstantin Golovin was granted the title “Honored Artist of Ukraine.”

His works are characterised by romanticism akin to Biedermeier with its sense of comfort, peace and security. The artist especially favours transitional seasons, such as fall and early winter. Domestic painters are invariably attracted to these seasons because they afford moods typical of the national character and provide artists with weather phenomena full of dramatic effects. Any signs of human presence, such as houses, churches or solitary figures, make the represented natural sites dimensionally similar to human existence. Artist’s works are fantasy ones, especially accentuated by the original colour scheme and unusual light effects; these features reflect his apparent desire to see idyllic overtones in the outside world.

Golovin avoids painting true-life scenes. He would instead prefer classic compositions and follow his inherent sense of harmony. The artist’s technique is somewhat meagre; however, his works are always softened by a pleasant feeling.

Whilst K. Golovin’s creativity is characterised by broad generalisation, he brought into existence his world of landscape images where the personal history of the artist is entwined with the eternal beauty of «indifferent» nature.

The artist’s pictures are in private collections in China, Ukraine, Russia, USA, Germany, France and Israel.
