“Beads of the Night” is from the artist’s memories to monologues: reflecting her life journey living in different countries, recalling her childhood memories living by the seaside in her homeland; recollecting the precious romantic moments by the sea with her lover in youth, then the present is the reality.
Inspiration was from a sleepless mid-night when the artist is thinking about her past, looking through the window, viewing the different block of residential, observing the silence. She overheard some inharmonious noises from the street; it was from a young woman with a burden.
The artist then enlightened that a person’s sad story could help a person to show empathy for others.
The painting expressed her mixed feeling of love, loss and somethings in between.
“Beads” as a woman’s tears which could represent the sparkles of love also the flame of anger. They were expressed in layers of vibrate brush strokes. The dark, overlapping and the textured background represents the different experienced phases of uncertainty.
The artist painted a hidden seascape in black, as if it was her aspirations, in the phase of the sandwich generation, viewing at the shore, wishing the waves would swallow her sorrow, waiting for dawn to come and to start another new day.
